The sPINner

The magnetic deburring and polishing machine generates a rotational movement that achieves a variety of effects – from efficient deburring to shiny polishing and thorough cleaning. The secret lies in the unique magnetic field distribution, which creates a strong and stable magnetic induction effect.

The sPINner impresses with its outstanding performance and can remove rust and eliminate unwanted burrs, oxide layers and sinter marks with ease in the shortest possible time.

Product description and mode of operation

The principle is simple:

Stainless steel pins are set in violent motion by a rotating magnetic field. This gently deburrs and polishes the parts, which are in a container together with the pins in a liquid. Processing times are between 5 and 20 minutes, depending on the application. Steel pins are available in various dimensions with diameters of 0.2 – 1.2 mm and lengths of 1 – 5 mm.

Our sPINner magnetic deburring and polishing machines have been specially developed to efficiently deburr and polish large quantities of small workpieces.

The workpieces are placed in a container with water and a small amount of vibratory finishing additive together with stainless steel pins as the grinding medium. The container is then placed on the machine. A rotating magnetic field sets the steel pins in motion and ensures gentle processing. Once the process is complete, the workpieces are separated from the medium using a magnet, a sieve or the HD-712 magnetic separator.

Separation of workpieces and grinding medium

After processing on the sPINner machine, the workpieces must be separated from the grinding medium. This can be done by collecting the parts by hand, especially if there are only a few large workpieces. If the workpieces are made of non-magnetizable materials, the steel pins can also be collected from the container using the magnetic lifter, which is part of the standard equipment. However, this is particularly time-consuming for larger batches.

An automated separation process is ideal here. The HD-712 magnetic separator offers a quick and effective method. The part-medium mixture is placed in a basket and placed in the center of the container on the work surface of the separator. The stainless steel pins are then separated from the workpieces by magnetic force. However, the parts must be larger than the pins.

Designed for series production!

The operator only has to take care of loading and unloading, while the work cycle runs automatically based on the selected values for rotation speed and duration of clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation.

Depending on the machine, up to three runs per cycle can be set. Only the smallest machine, the HD-716, has only one direction and speed of rotation. To avoid idle times, we work with two containers that can be easily exchanged at the end of a processing cycle.

What materials is the sPINner suitable for?

This process is suitable for practically all metals and hard plastics.

The sPINner enables you to machine a wide range of different small and precision parts. Here are a few examples:

  • Pressure parts made of aluminum, zinc
  • Precision stamped parts
  • Precision springs, spring hinges
  • Parts for the aerospace industry, medical devices
  • Electronic components
Due to its gentle properties, it is also suitable for processing sensitive parts in the watchmaking industry or for processing gold, silver and platinum in the jewelry industry.

HD-7200: The sPINner machine with horizontal movement!

The HD-7200 model is particularly suitable for long and wide workpieces, including those made of magnetizable material. In addition to rotation, the magnetic field also performs a longitudinal movement. This avoids blind spots, which significantly increases productivity and enables even more precise machining.

Processing area in mm: 800(L) x 300 (W)

The sPINner HD-7200 has two independent spindles. This allows operation with two containers.

Recommended grinding medium

The choice of sanding medium is initially based on the material to be processed. Larger pins have a stronger loop effect. Pins with a diameter of 0.5 mm or more are therefore recommended for steel, while pins with a maximum diameter of 0.5 mm should be used for copper, aluminum and other softer materials. In addition, the loop effect can of course be influenced by the infinitely adjustable rotation speed. The geometry of the components to be machined must also be taken into account when selecting the pins. The pins must be able to penetrate any recesses and openings without jamming.

The pins with 45° angles at the ends are suitable for matt surfaces, while the simple pins should be used for glossy surfaces. In addition to the standard straight needles, angled needles and needles with beveled ends are also available for special applications.
We offer a wide range of stainless steel pins as standard.
Special sizes can be supplied on request.
