The dowel pin extractor is an indispensable device in mechanical engineering and belongs in every mechanic’s toolkit. Dowel pins and locating pins can be easily and quickly removed from cylinder heads, flywheels, and crankshafts using suitable spring steel collets. Since the dowel pin is not damaged, it is usually reusable. Ten easily replaceable spring steel collets are included in the set.

How the Dowel Pin Extractor Works

1. Striker pin
2. Rod
3. Collet holder
4. Collet chuck
5. Spring steel collets
6. Opening device

A. Place a suitable collet onto the dowel pin. Place the complete tool over the collet.

B. Strike the collet holder with the striker pin until the collet chuck, together with the collet, sufficiently grips the dowel pin.

C. Strike upwards with the striker pin until the dowel pin loosens.

D. Attach the opening device and operate the striker pin until the dowel pin falls out.
