Before installing wet cylinder liners, especially after machining the sealing surface of the cylinder block or in the event of leaks, the seats for the liner collar must be reworked to restore the necessary seal. The MIRA® BB device solves this task easily, quickly and precisely, even on the installed engine. BB-86 fits directly onto the engine block, where it is automatically centered and adheres to the engine block by means of an electromagnet. As BB-86 is placed directly on the sealing surface of an engine block, the countersinks are automatically parallel to the sealing surface. The reworking process can be carried out on both installed and removed engine blocks or even on installed underfloor engines.
Machining of bushing seats
The MIRA® BB device is easy to use and the machining is very precise. After inserting the appropriate turning tool, the device is placed on the cleaned flat surface of the cylinder block. The device is centered by means of a centering roller and mechanical fine feed. While the seat is being machined, the powerful electromagnet holds the tool securely on the sealing surface. The desired material removal is set using the feed nut. The seat is machined by turning the hand crank while holding the face feed ring in place. The carbide turning tool moves outwards to machine the bushing seat.
Precise bushing collar machining
Parallelism between the sealing surface and the collar seat is guaranteed with the Mira BB by placing the tool on the sealing surface and by the horizontal feed of the turning tool.
Chamfering of bushing collar seats
Special machining steps such as undercutting or chamfering can also be carried out effortlessly with the MIRA® BB-86 device and special turning tools.
Machining of sealing surfaces
Sealing surfaces can be machined quickly and easily with the MIRA® BB-86 tool and the appropriate turning tools.
