Valves

Valve leak testing is a critical step in engine reconditioning to ensure efficient engine function and correct valve sealing. The valves are tested for their ability to seal the combustion chambers tightly. Poor sealing can cause loss of power, increased fuel consumption and incomplete combustion. Compressed air is introduced into the combustion chamber to check for air leaks around the valve seats. This test provides information on the condition of the valve seats, valve guides and possible valve damage. Early detection and rectification of problems is essential for engine reliability and performance after reconditioning, making leak testing an important part of any engine overhaul.
